Our rest

​Surrounded by mountains, with no other building in sight, Skiddaw House offers a real escape from it all. It's off-grid, out of reach of mobile signal and 3.5 miles from the nearest road.

At this stunning remote spot and you will find cosy lounges heated by wood burners, comfortable beds and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Plus a well-stocked shop with food and plenty of local ales, wines and whiskies.

Skiddaw House is an independent hostel. It was built as a gamekeeper's lodge in the 1800s and first began providing accommodation to walkers, runners and bikers in 1987.

Small but important detail

• North Lakes, The Lake District (nearest train station is Penrith)
• Overnight date 4th September 2023.
• Cost £500 + VAT where applicable
• Payment plan available to pay in 3 instalments.
• One night accommodation is in a hostel, with shared rooms and basic facilities.
  
• We'll have sole use of the hostel for the entire 2 days of the event, with the option of another overnight should you wish to rest up for an extra night.
• You don’t need to be super fit, but healthy and able to walk relatively long distances.
  
• All your food is included, but as a community is part of our spirit, we'll cook and learn together.
  
• There isn’t much signal where we will be, no wifi, 4G sometimes.
  
• Open mind and curious state are required!
